Ho, Ghana - A group of supporters, Friends of Johnpaul Semavor, has called on the former Volta Regional Deputy Secretary aspirant to reconsider his decision to withdraw from the race. At a press conference held at the Volta Regional Museum on March 10, 2026, the group cited Semavor's commitment to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and his leadership qualities as reasons for his return.
Spokesperson Senyo Steward Rich Atsu stated that Semavor's withdrawal was respected but rejected, emphasizing the complexities of politics and the need for experienced leaders like Semavor.
The group highlighted five key reasons for Semavor's return: his consistent support for NDC, his advocacy for inclusion and social justice, his leadership skills, and his grassroots connections.
Atsu urged Semavor to "reignite the campaign and fight for victory" to strengthen the party and its members. The group assured Semavor of their unwavering support should he decide to re-enter the race.
The press conference reflects the ongoing political dynamics within NDC as it prepares for upcoming elections. Semavor's decision to withdraw had been announced earlier, but his supporters are pushing for his return to the contest.
