Former NPP-USA Chairperson, Obaa Yaa Amponsah Frimpong, has officially filed her nomination to contest for the National First Vice Chairperson position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She filed her completed nomination forms at the party's headquarters in Accra, marking her formal entry into the national executive race.
Obaa Yaa, who served for eight years as Chairperson of the NPP-USA Branch, is seeking to bring her vast experience in diaspora mobilization and party organization to the national level.
Speaking after filing, she said her decision is driven by the need to champion the cause of women in the party and to help reposition the NPP for victory in the 2028 general elections.
According to her, women remain the backbone of the NPP, yet need stronger voice and representation at the highest decision-making level.
"I am coming to be the voice for women and to ensure our grassroots women are empowered and recognized," she stated.
She further pledged to work tirelessly to support the party's flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, to win the 2028 general elections.
Her campaign is anchored on steady and reliable leadership, grassroots empowerment, and structural reorganization of the party.
Obaa Yaa Amponsah Frimpong becomes one of the few women with extensive diaspora leadership experience to contest for the First Vice Chairperson slot, a position considered crucial in steering party affairs.
The NPP is expected to vet aspirants and conduct balloting in the coming weeks ahead of its national delegates conference.
