A coalition of progressive forces, trade unions, youth and women's movements, faith-based justice networks, scholar-activists, Pan-African and Afro-diasporic organizations has issued a joint statement condemning threats of military aggression against Iran and calling for peaceful resolution.

The statement, signed by over 30 organizations from Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America, North America, and Europe, emphasizes the importance of upholding international law and respecting the sovereignty of nations.

Key points of agreement among the coalition include:

- Condemning military aggression against Iran

- Urging the United Nations Security Council to convene an emergency session and initiate an independent investigation into the legality of the attack

- Supporting diplomatic pathways and multilateral negotiations that respect sovereign rights

- Mobilizing public protests and educational campaigns to expose the human cost of unilateral military intervention

- Protecting civilians and stopping the bombing of Iranian civilian areas

The coalition also highlights areas of disagreement, including differing views on sanctions and the role of external actors in Iran's political future. However, they emphasize that unity is built on shared principles, including the prohibition on the use of force and the importance of popular sovereignty.

The statement concludes with a call to action, urging people to demand an end to the war on Iran and to uphold international law and defend the rights of all peoples.
