Accra, Ghana - A 45-year-old pastor has been arrested in Cape Coast for alleged offences involving a minor, including defilement and the production and possession of child sexual abuse materials. Ebenezer Conduah, lead pastor of Mahanaim Christian Center, was apprehended on March 6, 2026, following a joint operation by the Ghana Police Service, Cyber Security Authority, and National Security.
According to police, Conduah allegedly welcomed the 13-year-old survivor into his home in August 2021, providing spiritual counselling and behavioural correction, but repeatedly subjected her to sexual abuse, recording videos on his mobile phone. The abuse was reported to authorities by the survivor's school headmistress.
A search of Conduah's residence yielded several items, including electronic devices and contraceptives, now undergoing forensic examination. Evidence on the devices indicates production of child sexual abuse materials and private pornographic website accounts.
Conduah has been charged with defilement, child pornography, and possessing indecent images of a child. He was remanded into prison custody, with a court appearance scheduled for March 27, 2026.
The arrest highlights the Ghana Police Service's commitment to protecting children and combating online child sexual exploitation. Authorities stressed the need for stronger action against online child exploitation, following discussions at the National Online Safety Summit 2026.
