ACCRA, Ghana - In an Exclusive interview at the International Conference Commemorating the 5th Pan-African Congress, presidential candidate for convention peoples party (CPP) Nana Akosua Frimpomaa challenged the current educational system, demanding a comprehensive overhaul to address the lingering impacts of colonialism and foster true African unity.
Speaking passionately about the need for systemic change, Frimpomaa emphasized the critical importance of introducing Pan-African studies into school curriculums. "We must have a curriculum that teaches African ideologies," she declared, critiquing the current educational approach that she argues fails to provide students with a meaningful understanding of their historical and cultural context.
The presidential candidate highlighted the disconnect between current education and national development, noting that young Africans lack access to basic necessities and meaningful opportunities. "What is the point in immortalizing people when young people don't have jobs, when young people don't have access to accommodation?" she challenged.
Frimpomaa's called for a revolutionary approach to education that goes beyond traditional learning, advocating for a system that indoctrinates youth with a strong belief in African identity and potential. She stressed that true progress can only come when young people understand the historical impacts of colonization and are equipped with the knowledge to drive meaningful change.
The conference, focused on youth empowerment and education, marks a critical moment in discussions about Africa's future, with Frimpomaa positioning education as the key to national sovereignty and unity.
Key action items emerging from her include introducing Pan-African studies in schools, celebrating national independence day with renewed vigor, and creating enabling environments that empower the youth.
As Ghana and other African nations continue to grapple with post-colonial challenges, Frimpomaa's call for educational revolution represents a bold vision for national transformation.
