Story by Paul Mensah Nsor,
The Central Regional Patriotic Movement has petitioned the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to immediately expel Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong from the party without a hearing, citing what it calls a pattern of public attacks against the NPP from 2023 to date.
In a petition dated June 19, 2026 and addressed to the National Chairman and NEC members, the group said Agyapong’s conduct “undermines our party's integrity, damages electoral prospects, and betrays the sacrifices of millions of NPP members.”
The petition lists five specific allegations against the former Assin Central MP and 2024 NPP flagbearer aspirant:
1. Afari Military Hospital Comments: The group accused Agyapong of publicly stating that the NPP administration failed to complete the Afari Military Hospital in the Ashanti Region, calling it a “missed opportunity.” It said the late Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah had personally assured Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and the Asanteman Council that the hospital would be completed by September 2025. The petition claims Agyapong falsely alleged the NPP sold contracts to others and took 10 per cent, while claiming the party failed to complete any Agenda 111 facility. The group described the statements as “deliberately malicious.”
2. Criticism of Bawumia’s Concession: After the NPP’s December 7, 2024 election loss, the petition says Agyapong criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s early concession speech, suggesting a “more combative approach” should have been taken. The group said this “undermines party discipline and insights violence.”
3. Claims of Grassroots Neglect: In August 2025, Agyapong allegedly launched a “scathing critique” against NPP leadership on Pan African TV, alleging “systematic neglect of grassroots supporters” and claiming party leadership abandoned loyal campaign workers after electoral victories.
4. Threats to ‘Spill the Beans’: The petition states that in June 2026, Agyapong declared “NPP should be careful with me; I'll spill the beans if they provoke me.” He reportedly warned that if the NPP “jokes,” he would “give them a showdown” because “no one is man enough in the NPP more than him.”
5. Clashes with Party Officials: Agyapong has described individuals within the NPP structure as “monsters” who abuse power and eliminate dissent, according to the petition. It noted he clashed publicly with Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye during the NPP’s Thank You Tour in April 2025.
Demands for Immediate Removal
The Central Regional Patriotic Movement is demanding that the NEC:
1. Immediately remove Hon. Kennedy Agyapong from the NPP
2. Conduct this removal without hearing his side
3. Issue a public statement confirming his removal
4. Warn other members against similar public attacks
“Hon. Agyapong’s actions constitute clear betrayal,” the petition read. “His comments are publicly documented on multiple media outlets, made repeatedly over several years, directed at undermining the party's reputation, threatening in nature, and contradictory to party discipline.”
“Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has repeatedly demonstrated that he no longer represents NPP values. His sustained public attacks and threats to ‘spill the beans’ constitute clear betrayal that can not be tolerated,” it added.
The petition was signed by Issah Ahmed Benjiman Tetteh, National President; Tetteh, Organizer; Emmanuel Wiredu, Communication Officer from KEEA Constituency; and Isaac Eduful, Research Officer from Gomoa West Constituency.
The NPP NEC has not yet publicly responded to the petition.
