In a powerful address to the National Cadet Corps board, Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Clement Abas Apaak has called for urgent and comprehensive action to combat rising indiscipline among Ghanaian students.

Speaking at a critical meeting, Dr. Apaak highlighted alarming trends of student misconduct, including violent outbursts, property destruction, and aggressive confrontations with school authorities. The most concerning issue appears to be students' brazen attempts to cheat and their violent reactions when prevented from doing so.

"These cannot be the people we are comfortable leaving the country in their hands," Dr. Apaak emphasized, signaling the government's serious concern about youth behavior.

The proposed solution centers on expanding the National Cadet Corps program across educational institutions, from junior high schools to higher levels. The initiative aims to instill core values of accountability, integrity, service, and patriotism among students.

Particularly alarming are emerging reports of drug abuse even at the basic education level, which the Cadet Corps program hopes to address through structured intervention and mentorship.

The government's strategy involves comprehensive stakeholder collaboration, using the Cadet Corps as a transformative vehicle to reset the moral compass of Ghana's youth.

Key objectives include:

- Mandatory Cadet Corps programs in all schools

- Expansion of programs to junior high school level

- Comprehensive approach to combating student indiscipline

- Promoting values of integrity and civic responsibility

The initiative represents a significant governmental response to growing concerns about youth behavior and educational standards in Ghana.
