QNet, a direct selling company, is advocating for comprehensive legislation to protect consumers and regulate the direct selling industry in Ghana. Naana Quartey, Global Compliance Officer at QNet, highlighted the critical need for clear legal frameworks to safeguard consumer interests.
The proposed legislation would address several key areas, including:
1. Consumer Protection: Establishing guidelines to prevent unscrupulous business practices
2. Company Registration: Requiring companies and distributors to meet specific compliance standards
3. Transparent Refund Policies: Ensuring clear consumer rights and protection mechanisms
Currently, the industry faces challenges due to lack of formal regulation, with some direct selling companies forced to exit the Ghanaian market. QNet argues that proper legislation would create a more stable business environment and protect both consumers and legitimate businesses.
The company is calling on the government to develop and implement direct selling legislation that provides clear operational guidelines and ensures fair, transparent business practices.
By establishing such regulations, Ghana could create a more robust and trustworthy direct selling ecosystem that supports economic growth and consumer confidence.
