The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the opening of its first NIA Prestige Centre, a premium, 24-hour facility designed to provide faster and more flexible access to Ghana Card registration and related services.
The Labone Centre in Accra will begin operations on Saturday, 1st August 2026, and will run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including weekends, the Authority said in a press release issued Tuesday.
According to the NIA, the Prestige Centre is a fee-based service that complements the Authority’s existing registration centres. It is targeted at individuals who require greater convenience, flexibility and faster processing.
“All services provided at the Centre will attract the applicable approved fees,” the Authority stated, adding that the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to improving service delivery and enhancing the customer experience.
The NIA said the 24-hour model will enable members of the public to access identity services at any time convenient to them, reducing long queues and wait times associated with regular centres.
The Labone facility is the *first of several Prestige Centres* planned nationwide. The Authority noted that additional centres will be announced as they become operational.
“The Authority remains committed to making identity services more accessible, efficient and secure while delivering a customer-centred experience for all eligible applicants,” the statement said.
Background
The Ghana Card is the national identity card and key document for accessing public services, banking, SIM registration and other transactions in Ghana. Demand for registration and card-related services has continued to rise, prompting the NIA to explore new service delivery models.
The launch of the Prestige Centre comes as the NIA intensifies efforts to ensure all eligible Ghanaians are enrolled and issued with the Ghana Card.
