Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as “Chairman Wontumi,” has urged the party to renew its courage, energy and grassroots leadership as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.

Speaking at an NPP Minority Caucus meeting at the Accra City Hotel on Wednesday, Chairman Wontumi said rebuilding the party’s internal structures and intensifying mobilisation at the grassroots level were critical to its future electoral success.

He argued that discipline, organisation and effective leadership from within the party base would determine the NPP’s performance at the polls.

“The NPP needs courage, energy, and grassroots leadership for the battles ahead,” he told party members at the meeting.

Chairman Wontumi, who has declared his intention to contest the party’s national chairmanship position, said he was ready to lead efforts to reposition the NPP ahead of the next elections.

He stressed that the task would require dedication to restoring the party’s structures and political strength following recent electoral setbacks.

“The mission is clear; rebuild, reorganise, and reclaim victory,” he said, calling for unity and focus among members as the party works toward reclaiming political power in 2028.

Wontumi added that he was prepared to “stand, fight, and deliver for the Party” in the lead-up to the elections.
