The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Ghana has issued a public notice warning against an unlicensed investment scheme being promoted online by Mekanism Marketing Ltd, also referred to as "Mekanism".
According to the SEC, Mekanism Marketing Ltd is not licensed or authorized to operate in Ghana's capital market. The entity is soliciting funds from members of the public through social media advertisements and online platforms, promising fixed daily returns that vary depending on the amount invested.
The SEC considers the promised returns to be unrealistic, unsustainable, and bearing features of a fraudulent scheme designed to lure unsuspecting members of the public.
The Commission has cautioned the public to exercise extreme caution and desist from investing in any product or scheme promoted by Mekanism Marketing Ltd. The SEC is collaborating with relevant law enforcement agencies to identify and take action against the people behind the scheme.
Members of the public are advised to verify the licensing status of any individual or entity offering investment products or services before committing funds.
