Accra, Ghana - The inaugural African edition of the Future of Digital Countries (FDC) Summit has concluded, leaving a lasting impact on the continent's digital landscape. The event, led by FDC Chairman Eng. Tarek Shabaka, brought together a diverse coalition of stakeholders to discuss Africa's technological self-determination.
"We are not organizing another event," Shabaka emphasized. "We are building an African movement for a shared digital future." Ghana was chosen as the summit's launching pad due to its robust digital ecosystem, forward-thinking leadership, and commitment to cybersecurity.
The summit's agenda focused on digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, and economic development. A key highlight was the announcement of Ghana Digital Centers Limited's ambitious vision to reshape Ghana's digital landscape.
Dzifa Gunu (CEO Ghana Digital Center Ltd) outlined the organization's multifaceted approach, including building technology parks and digital centers across Ghana.
"We are creating the right spaces and opportunities for digital innovation and entrepreneurship," Gunu declared. Partnerships with global entities like UCLA and Oracle Corporation have been instrumental in providing practical digital skills and entrepreneurship training.
The summit celebrated remarkable achievements, including a young Ghanaian innovator's second-place finish at the Minsk Gate Africa 2025 competition. Her project focused on combating illegal mining through technological solutions.
As Ghana positions itself as a key player in Africa's digitalization agenda, the message is clear: the digital future is not just about technology, but about creating opportunities, protecting rights, and ensuring prosperity for all.
The FDC Summit has sent a clear message: Africa is ready to innovate, secure its digital space, and lead the global technology future. Ghana is not waiting for the digital future; it is actively building it, one innovation, one partnership, one entrepreneur at a time.
