The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has launched its Lorry Terminal Project, aimed at bringing its services closer to drivers and motor vehicle operators. The project was launched on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the GPRTU Circle Kaneshie Station branch.
The initiative is designed to provide various licensing services, including new driver's license acquisition, renewal of licenses, replacement of expired or missing licenses, conversion of foreign licenses, issuance of international driver's permits, and upgrade of licenses. The DVLA will deploy a mobile service team to designated terminals on a monthly basis to deliver these services.
The Chief Executive of DVLA, Mr. Julius Neequaye Kotey, emphasized that the project is tailored to meet the needs of drivers and motor vehicle operators, although it remains open to the general public. He expressed hope that the initiative would be well-received and patronized by drivers.
The DVLA has partnered with the Ghana Optometric Association to conduct eye tests for drivers as part of the licensing process. This is to ensure that drivers who require corrective eyewear are aided to promote road safety.
The launch of the Lorry Terminal Project is a significant step towards enhancing the delivery of driver services and promoting safer road use. The DVLA plans to deploy this service across all major terminals that have given approval for its implementation.
