In a significant crackdown on criminal activities, the Greater Accra Regional Police Command has successfully arrested, prosecuted, and convicted a five-member robbery gang responsible for two major incidents in the region.

The gang, led by Isaac Agbezudor and Justice Akwasi Sarfo Oppong (alias "Gariba Manta"), was first implicated in a robbery at Jos Bakery in Dome on May 11, 2025. During this incident, they fired a locally made pistol and stole a Tecno Pop 8 smartphone.

Following targeted intelligence operations, police arrested Agbezudor on May 14 and Oppong on May 22. Subsequent investigations linked Oppong to another robbery at ACP Junction on February 5, where the gang stole an iPhone 11 Pro Max, a Samsung tablet, and GH¢6,000 in cash, injuring the female victim with a knife.

The three additional accomplices - Bright Alikor, Emmanuel Nii Odartey Lamptey, and Prince Owusu - were also apprehended and convicted.

The court sentenced Agbezudor to 10 years and the other four members to 15 years each. Police are continuing investigations, with ongoing pursuit of a suspect in Koforidua who allegedly purchased the stolen iPhone.

DCOP Duuti Tuaruka emphasized the police's commitment to fighting crime and urged public cooperation in maintaining community safety.
