Government Defends Raid on Former Bank of Ghana Governor's Home Amid Controversy"

Deputy Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Justice Srem Sai, has defended the recent raid on the home of former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison, stating that the operation was conducted in accordance with the law ¹. The raid has sparked controversy, with the Minority Leader and other New Patriotic Party executives condemning the act as a breach of democracy and human rights. However, the government insists the actions were part of ongoing investigations into activities of former officials.

Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim, also justified the raid, emphasizing the need to execute these processes lawfully ¹. This isn't the first time the government has taken such actions, with similar raids conducted on the homes of journalist Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah and former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.

As the investigations continue, concerns about potential human rights violations and political motivations remain. The government must balance its pursuit of accountability with the need to protect individual rights and prevent abuse of power.
