OPDAG Annual Conference 2026 To Spotlight US$500 Million Oil Palm Investment Opportunity

The Oil Palm Development Association of Ghana (OPDAG), in collaboration with the Africa Entrepreneurs Alliance, will host its 2026 Annual Conference on November 7 and 8, 2026, to unlock a US$500 million investment opportunity in Ghana's oil palm industry.

The two-day conference is under the theme: "Transforming Ghana's Oil Palm Industry: Unlocking the US$500 Million Investment Opportunity for Entrepreneurship, Women's Empowerment, Smallholder Prosperity and Sustainable Growth."

According to a statement issued by Citizen Kofi Owusu, Media Relations for OPDAG, the conference seeks to draw attention to opportunities within Ghana's oil palm value chain and encourage greater stakeholder engagement in building a competitive, inclusive and sustainable industry.

Oil palm remains a critical agricultural commodity, supporting farming communities, processing businesses, traders and other enterprises across the value chain. However, organizers say expanding the sector's contribution to national development requires increased investment, improved productivity, stronger processing capacity and greater opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

The conference is expected to provide a platform for stakeholders to explore how investment can be mobilized to expand production, strengthen local processing, create employment and promote value addition.

Women and Smallholders At Centre

A key focus of this year's conference is the role of women and smallholder farmers in transforming the industry.

Women contribute significantly to various stages of the agricultural value chain, including production, processing, trading and enterprise development. Organizers say creating better access to investment, markets, technology and business opportunities will help strengthen their participation and improve livelihoods.

Similarly, supporting smallholder farmers with improved production systems, market access and stronger links with processors will be crucial to raising productivity and ensuring that growth benefits communities across the country.

By placing entrepreneurship, women's empowerment and smallholder prosperity at the heart of the theme, OPDAG and the Africa Entrepreneurs Alliance say they are placing inclusive development alongside investment and sustainable growth.

Two Days of Engagement

The first day of the conference is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The second day will take place on Sunday, November 8, 2026, at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), beginning at 4:00 p.m.

The programme is expected to provide opportunities for engagement among industry stakeholders, entrepreneurs, investors, development partners and other institutions interested in the development of Ghana's oil palm industry.

The conference also comes at a time when strengthening domestic agricultural production and expanding value addition remain important considerations for Ghana's broader economic development.

Organizers say the conference presents an opportunity to bring these conversations into sharper focus and encourage practical collaboration.

Industry participants, business leaders, development partners and the media have been encouraged to take note of the conference and follow the organizers' official channels for further information.
