NSAWAM, Eastern Region — A significant moment of unity was witnessed in Nsawam during the Adae Butuuw ceremony, as Okokroko Nana Kwamena Ansah I, Chief of Nsawam, successfully brought together the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, and the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Selorm Fummey.
The historic encounter, which took place on Sunday during the traditional rites marking the commencement of noise-making restrictions, is the first time the MP and MCE have publicly reconciled and engaged since their election.
Addressing traditional leaders, political figures and residents gathered for the ceremony, Okokroko Nana Kwamena Ansah I stressed that unity among leaders is critical to accelerating development in the municipality.
According to the Chief, political party differences should not become a barrier to progress. He urged leaders to put the interests of the people above partisan considerations and work together to address the developmental needs of Nsawam-Adoagyiri.
“Development should not be hindered by political differences,” Nana Kwamena Ansah I said. “When leaders unite and collaborate, the entire community stands to benefit.”
The Chief described his intervention as necessary to foster peace and harmony, noting that the Adae Butuuw provides an important platform to uphold custom while promoting cohesion among all stakeholders.
Both Hon. Selorm Fummey and Hon. Frank Annoh-Dompreh expressed appreciation to the Chief for his leadership and intervention.
The two pledged to set aside political differences and work hand in hand to ensure better development for Nsawam-Adoagyiri. They assured Nana Kwamena Ansah I and the people of the municipality of their commitment to collaborate on projects that will improve livelihoods and infrastructure.
Community members who witnessed the handshake and discussions described the moment as historic and a positive step toward stability in the municipality.
The Adae Butuuw ceremony brought together traditional leaders, political leaders and residents to observe customs and traditions while reinforcing the values of peace, respect and unity.
With the MP and MCE now committed to a common development agenda, stakeholders say the Chief’s mediation could mark a turning point for accelerated projects and service delivery in Nsawam-Adoagyiri.
Okokroko Nana Kwamena Ansah I concluded that the unity displayed sets the foundation for progress, adding that “this is how we bring development to Nsawam-Adoagyiri.”
