VEMAG Withdraws Court Case Against DVLA, Apologizes for Inconvenience

The Vehicle Embossment Association of Ghana (VEMAG) has withdrawn its court case against the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) after resolving the matter out of court.

In a press conference, Jojo Bruse Quansah, Spokesperson for VEMAG, stated that the association's 27 members had sought an interlocutory injunction against the DVLA earlier this year due to concerns over job security and lack of consultation on the implementation of Ghana's digitalized vehicle number plates.

However, after discussions with DVLA CEO Hon. Julius Niiquaye Kotey, VEMAG decided to discontinue the legal tussle and apologize for any inconvenience caused.

"We harbor no animosity against the DVLA or its CEO," Quansah said. "We regret our action and hope to chart a path of cordiality in our future dealings."

VEMAG acknowledged Hon. Kotey's efforts, noting a significant increase in DVLA's turnover from GHc 400 million to GHc 1.2 billion and improved operations at the Tema Harbour under his leadership.

The association thanked President John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Kotey, and their lawyer, Mr. Martin Kpebu, for facilitating the resolution.
