Little Drop Lifeline, Muslim World League Partner to Tackle Hunger and Flood Relief in Accra

Story by Paul Mensah Nsor

Accra Ghana — The Little Drop Lifeline Community Foundation has announced a new partnership with the Muslim World League to provide immediate food relief and ongoing community support in Accra, foundation founder and CEO Mrs. Sandra Barnes Ofori said during a Food package Distribution programme in Accra this week.

Mrs. Ofori described the collaboration as an extension of the foundation’s mission “to create smiles” by addressing acute food shortages affecting vulnerable residents. She said the joint effort distributed fruit packages to 50 people during the Easter period and highlighted plans for a follow-up program focused on maternal care.

The foundation intends to visit hospitals to assist mothers facing emergency caesarean bills and to supply essential baby items — including pampers, toiletries, clothing and cash assistance — seeking partners and donors to support the initiative.

Representing the Muslim World League, Abdul Manaf Yussif explained that the relief effort also targets families displaced or affected by recent flooding in parts of Accra. Yussif said coordination with government ministries and international stakeholders prolonged deployment but ultimately enabled targeted relief distributions. He emphasized that the League’s international network and local overseers, including program lead Bashir, are working to extend aid across multiple constituencies in the coming days.

Both speakers framed the effort as an example of interfaith and international cooperation addressing immediate humanitarian needs while building longer-term community resilience. Organizers say the next steps include expanded food-distribution rounds, hospital visits to support maternity wards, and broader solicitation of in-kind and monetary donations to sustain the campaign.

For community members and organizations interested in contributing, Little Drop Lifeline is asking for pampers, baby care items, clothing, and financial support to ensure the planned hospital outreach and continued relief distributions can proceed as scheduled.
