Ministry of Education Announces Recruitment of 7,000 Teachers and Expands Tertiary Education Access

Accra, Ghana - The Ministry of Education has announced plans to recruit 7,000 teachers across the country, with priority given to those willing to serve in deprived and rural areas. Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Minister for Education, made the announcement at a press briefing, emphasizing the government's commitment to improving education quality and accessibility.

Key Highlights:

- Teacher Recruitment: The recruitment process will be open, transparent, and competitive, with applications accepted from Friday, April 10, 2026.

- Tertiary Education Expansion: The government plans to establish new universities and campuses, including the National Defence University of Ghana and a University of Mines and Technology campus in Ahafo Region.

- CSSPS Overhaul: The Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) will be overhauled to ensure meritocracy, transparency, and equity in student placement.

The Minister also announced plans to decentralize the Ghana Education Service and improve infrastructure development. The government has allocated $25 million for the National Defence University and will provide support for the University for Engineering and Agricultural Sciences.

The Minister emphasized the government's commitment to education and urged stakeholders to support the initiatives. The recruitment process and other announcements are expected to improve education quality and accessibility in Ghana.
