As part of efforts to promote early detection and treatment of breast cancer, the National Association of Health Students and Fresh Graduates (NAHSAG) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health launched Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in Accra to promote early detection and treatment of breast cancer.
The President of NAHSAG, Ahmed Yakubu, emphasized the importance of the campaign, noting that breast cancer is one of the leading cancers affecting women. He urged everyone to take advantage of the various screening activities that will be conducted across the country.
Early detection is key to treating breast cancer effectively. According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer is the most common cancer among women worldwide, with over 2.3 million new cases diagnosed every year. In Ghana, breast cancer is also a significant health concern, with many women being diagnosed with the disease at an advanced stage.
NAHSAG is calling on the general public to take breast cancer awareness seriously, not just during the month of October but beyond. The association believes that this fight is not an individual's fight but a collective responsibility that requires the involvement of everyone, including government and relevant stakeholders.
The Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign aims to promote early detection and treatment of breast cancer. The campaign will feature various activities, including screening exercises, health talks, and awareness walks. The objective is to educate the public about the risks of breast cancer, the importance of early detection, and the available treatment options.
While there is no sure way to prevent breast cancer, early detection can significantly improve treatment outcomes. Women are encouraged to take responsibility for their health by getting regular screenings and being aware of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer.
NAHSAG and the Ministry of Health are working together to provide support and resources for those affected by breast cancer. The campaign will also provide an opportunity for people to share their experiences and raise awareness about the disease.
By working together, we can make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. Let's take advantage of the screening activities and promote breast cancer awareness in our communities. Together, we can beat breast cancer.
In an interview with Africa News during the NAHSAG Breast Cancer Awareness month launch, Hon. Dr. Mohammed Sherif Abdul-Khaliq, Member of Parliament for Nanton Constituency, delivered a compelling call to action for comprehensive healthcare reform and breast cancer awareness.
Speaking passionately about the critical challenges facing Ghana's healthcare system, Dr. Abdul-Khaliq highlighted the urgent need for a unified approach to breast cancer detection, treatment, and support. He emphasized that breast cancer remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in Ghana, with most cases diagnosed at advanced stages.
