Dozens of teachers from Ghana took to the streets of Accra today, presenting a passionate petition to President John Dramani Mahama, highlighting their dire financial situation after 13 months without salaries.

The teachers, visibly frustrated, emphasized their struggle to survive without income, having been forced to take loans just to attend the protest. They pleaded with government officials to provide financial clearance and process their staff identification and salary payments.

Key points from their protest include:

- 13 months of unpaid work

- Inability to afford basic living expenses

- Renting accommodations without means to pay rent

- Urgent need for salary validation by October

The teachers warned that if their concerns are not addressed, they will continue to protest. They expressed hope that the President and Vice President would intervene, comparing their plea to previous government support for tomato farmers.

"This is not just a paper," one teacher stated, "This is about the lives of innocent teachers who cannot teach with empty stomachs."

The protest underscores ongoing challenges in Ghana's public education sector, with teachers demanding immediate financial relief and recognition of their professional contributions.
