Palestinian Ambassador Condemns Israeli Actions Against Journalists in Ghana

Story by, Paul Mensah Nsor

The Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ghana, His Excellency Abdalafatah A. K. Alsattari, has strongly condemned Israel's actions against Palestinian journalists, describing them as attempts to "kill the truth" and perpetuate apartheid and genocide against the Palestinian people. Speaking at a press conference, Ambassador Alsattari highlighted the tragic loss of 249 Palestinian journalists killed by Israel, emphasizing that journalists are not alone in their struggle.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Ghanaian people, government, and media for their support and solidarity with Palestine. He recalled the gesture of solidarity shown by former President John Dramani Mahama, who sent a donation of humanitarian aid, including 40 metric tonnes of cocoa-based relief supplies, to Gaza. This donation, accepted by Ambassador Alsattari on behalf of the Palestinian people, aims to alleviate hunger and food insecurity among displaced families in Gaza ² ³.

Ambassador Alsattari pointed out the devastating impact of Israel's actions on Palestinian civilians, including:

- 25,000 children killed

- 12,000 women killed

He criticized Israel's actions, stating that the Israeli occupation seeks to perpetuate genocide and holocaust against Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

Despite the ongoing violence and humanitarian crisis, Ambassador Alsattari reaffirmed his strong belief that Palestine will one day be free. He expressed appreciation for Ghana's support and solidarity, noting that the country's donation is a testament to its commitment to humanitarian society and promoting peace and stability in the region.

Ghana supports a peaceful, negotiated two-state solution between Israel and Palestine, in line with international law and United Nations resolutions. The country's position on the conflict remains rooted in its commitment to global peace and compassion ².
