Africa Prosperity Dialogue 2025: Day 2 Focuses on Infrastructure Development

The Africa Prosperity Dialogue 2025 (APD 2025) entered its second day today, with Sidig Faroug El Toum, CEO of the Africa Prosperity Network (APN), emphasizing the importance of infrastructure development in achieving Africa's economic transformation.

 Speaking at the Accra International Conference, El Toum noted that the discussions from the previous day had laid a strong foundation for accelerating Africa's development through infrastructure investments and improved logistics.

This year's APD 2025 is themed "Delivering Africa's Single Market through Infrastructure: Invest. Connect. Integrate," highlighting the continent's collective responsibility in realizing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). El Toum stressed that Africa's political and business leaders must work together to create the world's largest single market by leveraging the continent's resources, diversity, and innovation.

The day's sessions focused on key areas of infrastructure development, including:Leveraging Digital Infrastructure, Innovation, and Technology to Connect Africa: This session highlighted the role of digital transformation in strengthening economic ties across the continent.

Delivering Affordable, Accessible, and Sustainable Energy Solutions for Africa: This session explored strategies for ensuring reliable energy access across the continent, emphasizing the importance of innovative investment models and policy frameworks.

The Role of Africa’s Infrastructural Development Partners in Building the Single Market: This session emphasized the importance of collaboration in infrastructure development, stressing that Africa must work with global and regional development partners to unlock investment opportunities and drive sustainable growth.

Building the Africa We Want With Social InfrastructureThis session focused on the importance of education, healthcare, creative industries, and tourism in Africa's economic progress, highlighting the need to invest in human capital to build a resilient and prosperous Africa.

The APD 2025 is a crucial step towards advancing Africa's economic transformation, and the discussions taking place today will shape the continent's economic future. As El Toum noted, "The conversations we are having today are not just discussions, but the essential building blocks for the future of Africa." ¹
