In a move to bolster its fundraising efforts, the District Governor of Rotary District 9104, Florence Maame Christina Hagan, has announced the launch of a car raffle. The raffle is aimed at generating funds to support the organization's various community projects across Ghana.
During a press conference, District Governor Florence maame Hagan revealed that a car had been donated to the district, which will now serve as the grand prize for the raffle. Tickets are priced at 10 Ghanaian cedis each, and the process for purchasing them has been streamlined, with a simple code (*713*2206#) that allows interested participants to easily acquire their tickets.
The raffle has been duly regulated by the National Lottery Authority (NLA) and the Gaming Commission, ensuring transparency and fairness. All proceeds from the raffle will be utilized for Rotary's initiatives, including a substantial donation to the Rotary Foundation, which serves as the primary financial arm of the organization.
District Governor Maame emphasized the importance of the Rotary Foundation in funding the district's projects, as it provides grants for both global and local initiatives. She noted that the district's designated funds, which are derived from previous donations, are used to support projects ranging from $0 to $30,000, allowing Rotary clubs to apply for grants to implement their community-focused programs.
The car, which is currently on display at Silver Star, will be awarded to the lucky winner on April 25, 2025. Maame Hagan urged all attendees to purchase tickets, stressing the potential for one of them to drive away the car as the grand prize winner.
Beyond the raffle, Maame Hagan also discussed Rotary's ongoing efforts to eradicate polio, a goal that has been a long-standing priority for the organization. She highlighted the need for continued advocacy and immunization, even though Ghana was certified polio-free in 2010, to prevent the re-emergence of both wild and vaccine-derived poliovirus.
The success of this raffle initiative is crucial for Rotary to achieve its ambitious goals of providing clean water, quality education, and improved healthcare to the communities it serves. Maame's passionate appeal for widespread participation underscores the organization's commitment to making a lasting impact through its community-driven projects.
