Accra, Ghana - In the aftermath of the recent general elections, the Ghana police service has been working tirelessly to maintain law and order and ensure the safety of citizens across the country.

According to ACP Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Head of the Public Affairs Directorate of the Ghana Police Service, the National Election Security Task Force had implemented a comprehensive "PEP" strategy, covering the pre-election, election, and post-election phases.

During the pre-election period, the police engaged actively with various stakeholders, conducted intelligence operations, and provided support to the Electoral Commission. On election day, the task force was deployed to polling stations and coalition centers nationwide to monitor the proceedings.

In the current post-election phase, the police have continued to maintain a strong presence, with joint patrols involving the military and the deployment of intelligence officers in communities. A total of 107 suspects have been arrested for their involvement in acts of lawlessness, with 106 currently being processed through the legal system.

"We have intensified joint patrols with other security agencies across the country, and we have also deployed our intelligence officers who are roaming through communities, looking for perpetrators," ACP Ansah-Akrofi stated.

The police have also set up a dedicated team of investigators to review all footage, pictures, and images received in connection with the reported incidents, with the aim of identifying and arresting any individuals involved.

Alongside these enforcement efforts, the police have been actively engaging with stakeholders, including political party leaders, to foster cooperation and ensure the preservation of peace and stability in the country.

"We are engaging party leaders and all other stakeholders so that we can work together to ensure the peace of this country once again," ACP Ansah-Akrofi emphasized.

The police have also appealed to the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and disinformation, which could potentially contribute to unnecessary fear and unrest.

"Let us continue to work together as a country to preserve the peace that we have enjoyed so far, so that together we can say that, Ghana have indeed won one more time," ACP Ansah-Akrofi concluded.

The Ghanaian police force remains committed to maintaining a strong presence and taking decisive action to address any incidents of lawlessness, while also fostering dialogue and cooperation with all stakeholders to uphold the country's democratic values and ensure a peaceful post-election environment.
