Accra, Ghana - In a show of unity and commitment to Ghana's democratic process, the National Election Security Task Force met with the leadership of the Electoral Commission to pledge their full support for the upcoming general elections.
The meeting, held at the Electoral Commission headquarters, was attended by the Inspector General of Police, Dr. Akuffo Dampare, and other heads of security agencies. Inspector General of police (IGP) Dr. Akuffo Dampare commended the Electoral Commission for the excellent work done so far in preparing for the elections, noting the significant improvements compared to past elections.
"Madam Chair, you and your team, we are grateful to you. Ghana is grateful to you. Africa is grateful to you for showing the way for us when it comes to elections," said the representative of the National Election Security Task Force.
IGP assured the public and all Ghanaians that they are "over ready" to support the Electoral Commission and ensure peaceful elections. They vowed to protect every Ghanaian and stakeholder, including the Electoral Commission staff, to allow them to carry out their duties without fear or hindrance.
The officials provided updates on the progress of ballot printing and transportation, noting that they are 95% done with ballots and almost 50% done with ballot boxes. They also discussed plans for special voting and the distribution of logistics from the regional to constituency levels, promising to work closely with the Electoral Commission's technical team to finalize the preparations.
"If we continue like that, Truly, this election will be the most peaceful in this country," the security representative said, emphasizing the strong partnership between the two institutions.
The meeting concluded with a call for Ghanaians to continue talking and walking the talk of peace, emphasizing the need to double their actions to ensure Ghana's democratic leadership is further strengthened.
