The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has urged Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin to maintain neutrality, acting as a referee rather than a player.
Speaking at a press conference today, Mr. Richard Ahiagbah, the director of communications, said the NPP and its members of parliament demonstrated unwavering commitment to lawful processes, resisting the Speaker’s alleged attempt to reconfigure Parliament’s composition.
The Supreme Court vindicated the Majority Caucus, ordering the Speaker to rescind his decision.
Mr Ahiagbah, accused the NDC of intentionally collaborating with Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, to frustrate the government’s efforts, in Parliament.
He emphasized the Speaker’s oath to uphold the Constitution, noting only the Supreme Court can interpret and enforce its provisions. The NPP’s statement reaffirmed its dedication to Ghana’s peace, stability, and democratic principles
He further urged Ghanaians to be vigilant, warning that such act could harm the country’s governance and delay critical national development efforts.
