The 5th Cohort of the Kayayei Empowerment Program, founded by Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, graduates 620 women today Tuesday, October 15, 2024. This initiative aims to empower Kayayei women by equipping them with essential vocational skills, in the country paving the way for their economic independence.
The women were trained in six specialized areas, including baking, bead making, soap making, decoration, driving, and more. The program's goal is to unlock the potential of these women, enabling them to become self-reliant and economically active members of society.
Ms. Abigail Swad Laryea Deputy CEO of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), expressed his deep gratitude to the partners and stakeholders who contributed to the program's success. She pledged ongoing support and emphasized the importance of monitoring the progress of the graduates. Ms. Laryea also announced plans to introduce a new cohort focused on ICT training, including coding and digital skills, specifically for the Kayayei.
A proud graduate, speaking on behalf of her fellow graduates, expressed heartfelt thanks to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia for his unwavering support in empowering Kayayei women with skills.
