Divisional chief of Apremdo Nana Egya Kwamina XI has called on international Students' and the entire students of Takoradi Technical University to embrace culture diversity.
Nana Egya Kwamina XI said this during the Inaugural Ceremony of International Students' Week at Takoradi Technical University in the Western Region of Ghana.
In his keynote address, the astute chief highlighted the remarkable success of Takoradi Technical University since it's establishment in 1954 and achieving full university status in 2016.
He therefore advised the students to take their Education serious so that they can archive their goals.
"it is true that you are here primarily for your studies, take the opportunity to learn our languages and experience the rich Ghanaian cultures, the motto of Takoradi Technical University is a starting point for you to learn a Ghanaian language. Adwen, Akoma na Nsa ma mpuntu (which translates, Skills combined with Wisdom accelerates development)".
Nana Kwamina XI revealed that, Here in Sekondi-Takoradi, we are Ahanta people, and we speak Ahanta. And for those of us who don’t know how the Ahanta language sounds like, I entreat you to listen to Kofi Kinaata’s “Aunty Ama Song, you will hear Ahanta lyrics there Nana Egya Kwamina added.
He encourage academic faculties to co-author papers with students and present them at international conferences, that this will strengthen TTU's internationalization agenda and build a pipeline for future academics in the country.
"To our international students, I join the university's leadership in welcoming you to Sekondi-Takoradi. It is an honor to have you choose our city for your studies. Sekondi-Takoradi offers a great university, a rich history, beautiful natural surroundings, and vibrant traditions. I hope you will enjoy your stay here and feel at home, with the words of Osibisa’s song “Welcome Home” resonating in your minds" concluded.
The celebration saw attendance from several senior high schools in the metropolis, faculty deans, teaching and non teaching staff, and alumni.
