Minority Leader and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has urged his constituents to take farming serious in this crucial period of the nation's economic life.
Hon. Ato Forson made this statement at a mini-durbar held Wednesday, April 3, at Ajumako-Bisease in the Central Region where he addressed farmers and distributed farming equipments as a mativational support to sustain food in the country.
The items distributed to farmers include Wellington boots, cutlass, and weedicides.
According to Dr. Ato Forson, this action was motivated by his desire to see farming activities improve in his constituency.
He emphasized that the current global economic situation has made it imperative for farmers to take their work seriously, as the produce from farms is enough to feed families even when there is no money at home.
The MP also tasked farmers to form cooperatives and channel their needs through the leaders to him, stating that he is ready to assist. He warned that the cooperative should not be formed on a partisan basis and that every farmer should be given the opportunity to join.
Dr. Ato Forson, who is seeking his fifth term, pleaded with the people to consider him and the flagbearer of the National Democracy Congress (NDC), John Mahama, in the 2024 elections. He stated that they hold the key to development in the constituency and Ghana as a whole.
Many of the farmers who received the inputs expressed their appreciation to the MP.
