Story by, Vincent Kweku Afriyie - Central

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has assembled a team of men and women to disseminate the message of the flagbearer, Alhaji Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia, to the people in the Central Region ahead of the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

The event took place at Pempamsie Hotel in Cape Coast on Friday, March 22.

The General Secretary of the party, Lawyer Justin Frimpong Kodua, led a team that included the National Youth Organiser, Salam Mustapha, Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, Regional and Constituency Executives, Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), Members of Parliament (MPs), Parliamentary Candidates (PCs), government appointees, and party faithful to carry out this important task as part of the preparations for the party's ambition to secure an unprecedented third successive term.

Speaking to the gathering, General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua called for unity among the rank and file of the party to conduct the campaign collectively. He urged for immediate reconciliation among the various factions within the region and constituencies.

He emphasized that unity is a key factor for NPP's victory, acknowledging that the 2024 elections will be challenging. He stressed that without mutual forgiveness and a fresh start within the party, winning the elections would be unattainable.

"If we do not leave this room forgiving one another and turning a new leaf, we might as well forget about attaining power," he emphasized.Lawyer Kodua directed the regional campaign team to establish teams in various constituencies and ensure that this effort extends to electoral areas and polling stations after providing them with the composition of the campaign teams at each level.

He assured that the party would make every effort to provide resources for the campaign's execution. However, he mentioned that the allocation of resources to a specific constituency would depend on how prepared its executives are to secure victory in parliamentary elections, which would reflect in their campaign activities.

The Majority Leader of Parliament and MP for Efutu Constituency, Honorable Alexander Afenyo Markins urged party members to diligently communicate the government's achievements to secure victory in the December 7 elections.

He acknowledged the global economic challenges but highlighted that Ghana would face even greater difficulties if NDC were in power. He pointed out that under Nana Akuffo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia's leadership, more development has been seen in Central Region compared to NDC's tenure, evident in every district in the region. This should boost party members' confidence in campaigning for their party.

The Efutu MP revealed that a recent survey indicates Ghanaians are not keen on seeing former President Mahama return to lead the country. He stated that these individuals doubt his ability to address challenges if elected president due to his limited four-year term compared to NPP's flagbearer and leader, Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia.

Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan added that Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang's nomination as running mate to former President Mahama would not significantly benefit NDC if NPP focuses on unity of purpose and works diligently towards achieving victory on December 7

.The Central Regional campaign team of NPP will be chaired by Mr. Robert Kutin Jnr., Regional Chairman. He will be assisted by Regional Minister Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, with Richard Takyi Mensah serving as secretary to the campaign team and coordinator for functional groups.
