Nana Akosua sarpong kumankuma remains Leader Of CPP- NEC Members.

Report by, Nsor Paul mensah.

The Recent National Executive Council Members of CPP meeting held in Ashanti region on Tuesday December 5th, record shows that certain individuals voluntarily resigned from their positions. it must be emphasized that neither the National Chairman and Leader, Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma, nor her three deputies resigned from their position.

CPP-NEC Members made it known that Nana Akosua sarpong kumankuma remains the Chair and Leader of the convention people's party.

According to Greater Accra Regional Secretary,  Koo Mensah frimpong at a press conference  in Accra today said her firm stance against resigning was explicitly stated during the NEC meeting and  meticulously recorded in the meeting's minutes. Therefore, any claim suggesting her removal are baseless and hold no legitimacy within our party's Framework.

Mr. Koo Mensah noted that, the CPP constitution does not acknowledge or endorse any body akin to an "interim council". Such a creation is a Direct Violation of our constitution and stands as an affront to the principles upon which our party was founded.

Let us not be misled or swayed by voices claiming authority but lacking the foundation of legitimacy. The only recognized entity empowered to speak on behalf of our party is the National Chair and Leader in accordance with our constitution - since our General Secretary and some of the executives have now resigned from their positions.

The Greater Accra Regional Secretary therefore call upon all members of the Convention People's Party to maintain faith and trust in Nana Akosua Frimpomaa Sarpong Kumankuma's leadership. She remains dedicated to the party's activities and has provided clear directives for the reorganization and upcoming internal elections leading to the 2024 general elections.

In light of recent vacancies resulting from voluntary resignations, the National Chair and Leader will, in collaboration with the Council of Elders according to article 67 and 68 of the party constitution, initiate the process of filling these vacant positions through the Central Committee, ensuring the appointment of qualified members in accordance with our constitution.

He revealed that, Regarding the events of the NEC meeting, the agenda for the meeting was not disclosed until the day of the gathering.

After the items on the agenda were fully discussed and exhausted, a petition was suddenly presented by Comrade Yirimambo without prior notice or mention in the agenda.

This petition was purported from someone in the Okere Constituency in the Eastern Region claiming to be a party member.

The Chair and Leader contested the sudden move, rightfully asserting that any action against any member of the national leadership should follow the due process outlined in Article 82 of the party constitution.

We need to state on record here once again, that the Chair and Leader Nana Akosua Frimpomaa refused to resign, and she made her position loud and clear which was recorded in the minutes of the meeting.

After making her stance clear, Nana Frimpomaa proceeded to call for a close of the NEC meeting. This was concluded with a Muslim prayer by Ibrahim Futa, the son of Hajia Aisha Futa our now former Women's Organizer.

Nana Frimpomaa then proceeded to leave the venue since all NEC business have been completed by then. She moved straight to talk to the press afterwards and reiterated her position not to resign.

For the avoidance of doubt, we want to state clearly here that There was no voting to remove any member of National Executive during the NEC meeting.

This means that there could not have been any unanimous decision regarding any voting to remove any National Executive.

We wish to state here also that, in the process of the agitation to remove the National Executives including the Chair and Leader, the representative of the Party's Council of Elders - Senior Comrade Christian Yao Zigah, who was present at the NEC meeting, spoke on the floor and advised that what they sought to do was in complete violation of the party constitution.

It is instructive to note that after the NEC meeting, Senior Comrade Christian Yao Zigah wrote a release to the press to affirm his earlier position that what was happening on the floor of the NEC meeting was illegal and outside the constitution of the CPP as per the attached press release.

These are the facts surrounding the CPP NEC meeting on December 5th, 2023.
