In a heartwarming act of generosity, the member of Parliament for Assin Central Constituency Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has extended a helping hand to those affected by the recent flooding in the three Tongu districts, Keta, Anloga, and the Ketu South districts.
The floods, that swept through parts of the Volta region over the past few weeks as a result of the spillage of the Akosombo Dam, have caused considerable damage to properties while displacing thousands of residents.
Mr Kennedy Agyapong, the NPP Flagbearer hopeful widely for his dedication to social causes, made the donation of hundred thousand Ghana cedis (GHC 100, 000, 00 as part of his philanthropic work.
The relief items donated by the member of Parliament for Assin Central include, 300 bags of 50kg rice, 300 packs of bottle water, 50 pieces of first aid kits and 100,000.00gh cedis cash.
Expressing his sympathy, the Lawmaker of Assin Central Constituency pledged to the affected communities that he will see to it that Volta River Authority(VRA) will compensate displaced victims by the spillage.
According to him, the lives of the people living in Mepe and its surroundings have been turned upside down as a result of what has happened.
He assured them that he will do everything possible to assist the affected people to provide relief and also restore the livelihood of those affected by the Akosombo Dam spillage.
Receiving the items on behalf of the affected communities, Mamaga Adzo Sreku V. Queen mother of Mepe traditional area thanked Mr. Kennedy Agyapong and his team for the massive donation. She said the donation has put smiles on the faces of the people living in the affected communities.
She expressed gratitude to Assin Central legislator for coming to their aid at this crucial time. Saying they were very excited about this massive donation from the business mogul. Adding that this will put smiles on the faces of those affected by the massive flooding
She therefore asked for God blessing and strength upon Mr Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, the Assin Central legislator for his philanthropic work.
"I have personally followed your philanthropic work, so when they said you were coming, I knew something good was coming, we appreciate your efforts", she mentioned.
Mr Agyapong contribution to the flood relief efforts according to the residents is a shining example of how individuals and companies can play a pivotal role in rebuilding communities and providing much-needed assistance during times of crisis.
It is expected that his efforts will inspire others to join in the collective endeavor to help Ghana's flood-affected communities.
