GTFC LAUNCHES MADE-IN-GHANA FAIR 2023; URGED GHANAIANS TO PATRONIZE LOCAL PRODUCE ITEMS

Report By Bernard K Dadzie

The maiden Made-In-Ghana Fair, designed to encourage the public to patronize locally produced goods and services, was launched in Accra at Kwame Nkrumah memorial park.

The fair aimed to commemorate Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah memorial Day which is  Celebrated on September 21st every year. The fair also educate the public to Patronage  locally produced goods and services which would lead to the creation of needed employment for the people.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited (GTFC), Dr. Agnes Adu who launched the fair said, the first trade fair was held in 1967 at the Ghana Trade Fair Center and it is still in their mandate today to carry out Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's vision of promoting made-in-Ghana products and services through fairs and exhibitions.

She said the president of Ghana Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo--Addo has made it possible to industrialize "One District One Factory" initiative which has transformed Ghana from a raw material to a value added economy, and that's today, Ghana is actually a manufacturing country.

According to Dr. Agnes Adu, what we produce here will help us develop our own economy, it will help us increase our export capacities and also help to consume what we are producing here in the country and therefore we will reduce our dependency on what we import in to the country.

Mr. Akwasi Agyemang, the  Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Tourism Authority added that Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah was someone who had industrialization at his heart, therefore having made-in-Ghana fair on his birthday is a right direction.

The CEO of Ghana Tourism Authority tasked Ghanaians to patronize our local produce goods and services. "We need to wear our own goods. We need to buy and showcase our own", he noted.

According to him, as a country, we need to help and assist the SME's, small and big businesses who are producing things for Ghana and that is the only way we can create  jobs.
