ACCEPT POSTING TO RURAL COMMUNITIES TO ENHANCE NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT-- GVC Boss Urges Personnel

Report By Bernard K DADZIE

The president of Global Volunteers Corps (GVC) Mr. Stephen Kwaku Darku has advised fresh graduates to desist from refusing postings to Rural communities by the National Service Secretariat since it does not show patriotism and volunteerism

He urged new personnel to accept their placements and work harder to improve their organisations to enhance the total development of the country.

He added that, “the current situation where most graduates prefer to work in the urban areas and refuse postings to rural communities does not augur well for the development of the country.’’

Speaking to the media  at official launch of Global Volunteers Corps (GVC), said it is  important that prospective national service personnel understand that their services and expertise are needed in every part of the country and not just in the urban areas.

The Global Volunteers Corps (GVC) is a flagship Programme to help the youth of this country and also designed to encourage youth participation in national development through voluntary activities.

On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of National Youth Authority,  Pius Enam Hadzide said NYA was still committed to empowering the youth across the country in items of   infrastructure building and entrepreneurship program to make meaningful contributions to the growth of the country.

According to him, the country is sinking when it comes to Voluntarily work and love for the country. While national service personal refuse to go to Rural communities does not help the country in terms of national development.

He therefore urged the  youth to volunteer, it behoves them to exhibit their sense of patriotism and commitment to the socio-economic development of the country.
