National Communications Authority in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization and International Telecommunication Union marked the World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) which is celebrated annually worldwide with a Forum.
The event which was held at the NCA Tower in Accra yesterday 17th may 2023, was commemorated on the theme "Public-Private Partnership to Improve Connectivity".
World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) is an annual observance that is celebrated on 17th may every year.
Deputy minister of Communication, Ama Pomaa Boateng
Speaking at the event, the deputy minister of Communications and Digitalization, Ama Pomaa Boateng (MP) , urged the national communications Authority (NCA) to do everything possible and monitoring the Sim Registration exercise to ensure that we have sanitize the sim Registration data base .
According the deputy minister, government has established a national rooming policy to address some of the challenges of network coverage in their impact of telephone consumers.
Professor Ezer Osei Yeboah Boateng, Deputy Director General for NCA observed that the government of Ghana through the Ministry of Communications and Digitalization has been pushing the digital agenda which aims in bridging the digital devide and improve digital literacy.
According to him, the private sector has played significant role in bridging the vulnerable groups who are often connected online. Added that government cannot do it alone that is government has create a nibbling working environment for the private sector to thrive.
