Women in energy under Ministry of Energy has organized the 2022 women in energy conference in Ghana, Which seeks to advocate and celebrate women participation in the energy sector in order to create and promote gender sensitization in energy companies and to achieve economic development. This event took place in Accra on Wednesday 30th November 2022 with the theme “Energy Transition: Prospects for women in energy.”
Some of the people that were present at the event were An Associate Professor of the Department of Physics, Professor Nana Browne Klutse , The acting Chief Director of the Ministry of Energy, Mrs Wilhelmina Asamoah and many more.
Speaking at the event Mrs Akosua Frema Osei-Opare, the Chief of Staff at the Presidency stated that “The role of women can never be underestimated considering the relationship between energy transition and gender perspective in Ghana,” she added.
Speaking on government work towards gender equality in the energy transition system governments in Ghana has created gender equality and inclusion concerning women in energy through decisions making because women play a big role in the energy system and the economy .
An Associate Professor of the Department of Physics, Professor Nana Browne Klutse, said women inclusion in the energy sector was more important. In addition women participation in energy has been low and this can be due to Low participation in science and technology.
This conference is a kind celebration of the women that are already in the sector and they that are also advocating for women to be part of the energy system.
According to Professor klutse, when we talk about energy transition there is a whole value chain of energy transition therefore we advocate that every woman has a stake in the energy transition system and can be part of these conversations. “ women are more concern or affected if we don’t have access to energy if “
If we can make anything better in the energy in the energy sector we say women can play a bigger or can play a best role in this conversation so we call on all women to be part of this conversation ,She added.
