A Group calling itself Eagle Eyesight , a pressure group in the opposition National Democrat Congress (NDC), has called on Council of Elders, national executives of the party to immediate suspend some Ashanti regional executives of the party.
According to the group, a fact finding committee of party in the Ashanti region has indicated that Augustine Nana Akwasi, Ashanti Regional Chairman aka Chairman 443 ,Regional secretary Kwame Zu and Regional Organizer , Isham Alhassan the role they played led the defeat of the party in 2020 elections.
Patrick Winibood Ndego, convener of the Eagle Eyesight addressing the media when he petition the national executives at the party's headquarters in Accra, alleged that some Ashanti Regional Executives compromised their positions to the detriment of their own party’s interest, saying the Regional Executives might have sold out the fortunes of the party to their political opponents.
As a result, he said the Committee was appointed and went on to indict the Regional Executives and saying the Regional executives conduct went to reinforce the perception of the public that they compromised their position, which the Committee saw as a betrayal of the party.
According to Mr Winibood Ndego, the committee also reveled that there was no proper co-ordination among the Regional Executives and that no teamwork and factions were created and as a result of that these factions operated to their own advantage.
The Eagle Eyesight convener Patrick Winibood Ndego who was speaking at the NDC's headquarters at Adabraka in Accra during a picketing , call on the party hierarchy to suspend or remove Ashanti Regional Executives from office over alleged bribery allegations said to have hit the party at the 2020 elections.
The group alleged that some National Executives are allegedly trying to water down revelations made by report of a Committee, hence their intervention. Adding that the Committee however, made recommendations without any tangible evidence to establish the truth or otherwise of the allegations.
The convener Patrick Ndego stressed that Eagle Eyesight went to Kumasi and met with some Ashanti Regional Council of Elders who magnanimously gave them the copy of the report. Stated in categorically that the report had made shocking and damming revelations against some of the Regional executives and party elders.
This, according to him, they were very informed by the Council of Elders that copies of the report have been submitted to the National Executives Committee, National Council of Elders and other dignitaries of the party, yet nothing has been done.
He alleged that the Executives failed to provide polling station agents to majority of the polling stations and could not provide almost 500 agents for the newly 540 polling stations that were created by the Electoral Commission (EC), prior to the elections, which they believed it couldn't help the party at any level.
Patrick Winibood Ndego furthered that the report also revealed that the Executives did not send out over 1000 qualified and well-trained polling station agents whereas some polling stations had no agents at all which they believed such people must go on suspension.
The pressure group for the opposition National Democrat Party (NDC) the Eagle Eyesight has gave the national executives of the party seven (7 ) days to implement the report or face their wrath.
Adding that "Mr. Augustus Nana Akwasi , the Ashanti Regional Chairman, Kwame Zu and Isham Alhassan must reigned immediately from their positions as well as contesting for any other positions within the party."
This to the group, NDC as a Party didn't make adequate preparations towards the general election in the Ashanti Region,resulting in the poor results. The Convener of the group expressed disappointment in the conduct of some party executives during the 2020 General election.
He called on the National Executives , to act upon the council of Elders recommendations by taken action against the Ashanti Regional Executives of the NDC once and for all.
