Atta Mills Memorial Heritage outlines July activities to mark 10th anniversary

 The John Evans Atta Mills Heritage has announced activities for the 10th anniversary of the late John Evans Atta Mills.

The Board Chairman of John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage, Mr Alex Segbefia disclosed at a press conference held in Accra.

On Thursday, July 21, 2022, the Heritage team will pay a courtesy call on Chief Imam, Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.

Muslim prayers will be held on Friday, July 22, 2022, at 1 pm in remembrance of President John Evans Atta Mills at designated Mosques throughout the country including the Central Mosque, Kanda, Al Sunni Mosque, and Accra New Town.

On 23rd July 2022 at 8:30 am, the President John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Hockey Tournament would be held at the Ghana National Hockey Pitch.

The tenth Anniversary Wreath Laying Ceremony and Memorial Service for the late President John Evans Atta Mills would be held at 1 pm at the Asomdwee Park, near Independence Square on July 24, 2022.

The Wreath Laying Ceremony is being organized by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at 1 pm.

The highlight of the 10th-anniversary commemoration would be the 10th-anniversary Commemorative Lecture, chaired by Nana Otuo Siriboe II, the Omanhene of the Juaben Traditional Area and the Chairman of the Council of State of the Republic of Ghana. The Keynote address would be delivered to Mr Tsatsu Tsikata.

The Atta Mills family further committed to creating special vehicles in his name to keep his legacy alive likewise.

The J.E.A Mills Memorial Heritage has also been established in the memory of President John Evans Atta Mills to preserve his heritage and legacy.


The Memorial Heritage was incorporated on October 14, 2021. It is a non-profit, non-partisan, independent, charitable organization and seeks to promote the late President’s unique view of society to cause positive actions in strengthening democratic values and human development. Its vision is to inspire humanity for a better society.

The John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage has since its launch on February 1, 2022, continued to implement programmes in pursuance of its objectives.

The President John Evans Atta Mills Regional Memorial Lectures have begun in earnest throughout Ghana. The Northern Sector Regional Lectures comprising the five (5) Regions in Northern Ghana, namely Northern, Savannah, Upper West, Upper East and North-East Regions and were successfully held by the Northern Sector Local Organising Committee led by Mr Osmond Amoah, at the Tamale Campus of the University of Development Studies on May 28, 2022.

The Regional Lecture was chaired by Naa Alhassan Andani, former Executive Director of Stanbic Bank and member of the Advisory Council of the J.E.A Mills Memorial Heritage. The lecture was attended by 1600 persons from the five regions of the Northern sector.
