AFCON 2021: Egypt tactician needs last day against Senegal moved

 

Egypt deputy coach Diaa al-Sayed needs their Africa Cup of Nations last against Senegal to be played on Monday rather than Sunday so they can have an additional a day off.

The Pharaohs beat  Cameroon on Thursday on penalties, their third shootout win in succession.

Senegal, who have dominated all their matches in an hour and a half, beat Burkina Faso 3-1 on Wednesday.

"I ask CAF that the last be played on Monday," Al-Sayed said.

"There is another day of recuperation for Senegal."

Al-Sayed was addressing the media since Egypt supervisor Carlos Queiroz was shipped off during the game.

The third-place play-off among Cameroon and Burkina Faso was because of be on Sunday as well, yet is currently being played on Saturday.

"I trust that, as we have progressed the counterpart for third spot, we will play on Monday," said Al-Sayed.

In 2019 both semi-finals were played around the same time.

The date of the last being moved would defer players' profits to their clubs.
