The Teachers and Educational Workers' Union (TEWU) of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) will today, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, leave on a cross country strike to request better states of service
As indicated by the association, the government has neglected to clear their expert advancement remittances owed them starting around 2020.
In a meeting with Citi News, the General Secretary of the association, Mark Dankyira Korankye at a question and answer session on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, said the government should find suitable ways to address their interests straightaway.
He demanded that is the main way they will get back to work.
"Government must with prompt impact stop the stripped oppression TEWU and pay individuals their nonstop expert improvement stipend."
Mr Mark Dankyira Korankye likewise added that the strike applies to every one of its individuals and that all of them should submit to the order.
"Every one of our individuals, both in the schools, region, and provincial workplaces will pull out our service until a neighborly settlement of this matter is reached".
"It was settled, among others that if by the end of the year 2021, the expert advancement stipends had not been paid to the non-showing staff of the Ghana Education Service, then, at that point, as schools resume for the last period of the subsequent semester, our individuals would pull out their service to push home our interest of the payment of this expert improvement remittances," he demanded.
The union's last strike threat was in May 2021. That threat was in dissent of helpless states of service.
