US-based Ghanaian columnist Nii Akrofi Smart-Abbey is set to get the Professional Excellence Award from the Foreign Press Correspondents Association in the United States on Wednesday, December 22.
Nii Akrofi along with four different columnists from across Europe and South America will be granted for separating themselves in their field of work.
Nii Akrofi began his profession as an assistant at Joy FM, one of Ghana's top of the line radio broadcasts.
Inside a month of his temporary position, he was given extra liabilities including news mooring and creating. He has since worked across media stages including print, on the web and TV, working first at Joy News in Accra and later at Africanews in the Republic of Congo.
Talking in a meeting with the Foreign Press Correspondents Association about his profession and interests in news coverage, Nii Akrofi said he is constantly attracted to the accounts of ordinary individuals who take monster steps out of general visibility.
He refered to his meeting with Dr. Ashley Peterson, the most youthful dark female specialist in America starting at 2019, as the kinds of stories that he accepts should be told to challenge and rouse others.
"In Journalism school, we are informed that 'when it drains, it leads,' yet I've not generally been keen on after a story essentially in light of the fact that it drains so it drives," he said.
"I'm more keen on recounting the human story and observing somebody like Ashley Peterson was one of those features of my vocation."
