Care for Free and Fair Elections Ghana ("CARE" GHANA) has approached the Electoral Commission (EC) to set up measures to control the flood in dismissed polling forms in Ghana's public decisions.

As indicated by CARE Ghana, since the start of the forward republic, records from the EC shows that, 1,000,000 400 and 98 thousand and 85 (1,498,085) polling forms have been dismissed in eight public races.

This, the body said, shows that, citizens have been not able to project their polling forms the correct way, settling on it extreme for the decision of the electorate to be known. This hastens the developing worry about the flood in voting form papers dismissed in public decisions.

"Independent of the advancement made by the presentation of changes, dismissed voting forms keep on representing a danger to appointive progression and Ghana's journey for vote based solidification.

"For example, 149,813, 111,108, and 119,372 voting forms were dismissed in 1992, 1996 and in 2000 decisions separately, while in the 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 races, dismissed polling forms were 188,123; 205,643; 243,280; and 167,349 individually.

"Infrequently, these dismissed polling forms adds up to monster rates of the votes in abundance of the complete number of votes earned by every one of the more modest ideological groups," an assertion via CARE Ghana said on Monday December 13.

"CARE" GHANA CALLS ON EC TO PUT IN PLACE MEASURES TO END THE FINANCIAL LOSS OF OVER GHC14 MILLION TO THE STATE RESULTING FROM REJECTED BALLOTS

Care for Free and Fair Elections Ghana ("CARE" GHANA) approaches the Electoral Commission (EC) to set up measures to control the flood in dismissed polling forms in Ghana's public decisions. Since the start of the forward republic, records from the Electoral Commission (EC) shows that, 1,000,000 400 and 98 thousand and 85 (1,498,085) polling forms have been dismissed in eight public decisions. This shows that, citizens have been not able to project their polling forms the correct way, settling on it extreme for the decision of the electorate to be known. This hastens the developing worry about the flood in voting form papers dismissed in public decisions.

Independent of the advancement made by the presentation of changes, dismissed voting forms keep on representing a danger to appointive progression and Ghana's journey for vote based solidification. For example, 149,813, 111,108, and 119,372 voting forms were dismissed in 1992, 1996 and in 2000 decisions individually, while in the 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 races, dismissed voting forms were 188,123; 205,643; 243,280; and 167,349 separately. Incidentally, these dismissed polling forms adds up to gigantic rates of the votes in overabundance of the complete number of votes collected by every one of the more modest ideological groups.

In the 2020 races for example, 313,397 dismissed voting forms were recorded, in this manner causing a colossal monetary deficiency of GHC14, 116,967 to the state. It is important that, dismissed polling forms recorded in the 2020 Presidential Race is higher than any time in recent memory as far as outright figures. Friedrich Ebert Stiftung reports that, dismissed polling forms in the 2004 races establish 2.13% of 8,625,785 all out votes cast, far in overabundance of the 165,375 votes comprising 1.9% Dr. Edward Mahama of the People's National Convention (PNC) gathered. Had it not been for these dismissed voting forms, Prof. John Evans Atta Mills of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) or Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) might have won the first round of the 2008 races. Obviously, on the off chance that dismissed polling forms were an ideological group, they could flaunt a consistent expansion in notoriety in front of the more modest gatherings.

As a democratic right association and supporters, it is our viewed as view that, viable coordinated effort between the Electoral Commission (EC) and the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to give legitimate government funded schooling will work on electorates' capacity to cast a ballot and vote well. Additionally, annulling the utilization of ink in casting a ballot will dispense with occurrence of dismissed polling forms occasioned by spillages or erroneous collapsing of the voting form sheet.

Since Ghana got back to electing popular government, votes cast by certain electorates have been dismissed in decisions. Dismissed polling forms keep on keeping up with its position addressing the third power behind NDC and NPP. In certain occasions, these dismissed voting forms could be naughtily added to the votes of ideological groups that lost races to make them champs. Ghana's decisions in 2024 is basic, consequently every polling form cast by the electorates must counted. Therefore, successful coordinated effort between the Electoral Commission (EC) and the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) is needed to instruct and edify both new and old citizens in front of the 2024 general races to if not wipe out alleviate the quantity of dismissed voting forms in Ghana's decisions.

Much thanks to You
